Welding Technology: A Mile Stone in Fabrication Industry
Jump To References Section
Abstract
Welding Technology involves all the aspects of conservative metallurgical processing like melting. Casting heat treatment; but it is more complicated because it simultaneously involves in situ melting, solidification and structural changes in the solid state. Welding process parameters have a very significant influence on the micro structural aspects of the weldment. Certain situations can lead to the formation of welding defects which may not be acceptable. This necessitates the development of alloy compositions which are best suited for welding purposes, resulting in the concept of weld ability. Thus, welding process metallurgy is more complex and difficult to understand in its entirety by nonmetallurgists.
