Abstract

To realize the effect of a continuous and natural energy source into our country's most needed phenomenon for the agricultural purpose have been studied. 100 years' data (1901-2000), were used for studying effects due to solar activity, temperature and cloud cover on the occurrence of precipitation over India. We examine the correlation coefficients for the seasonal months of March-May (MAM), Jvme-August (JJA), Septemeber- November (SON), December-February (DJF) and annual mean data. Our findings shows that solar activity shows positive (low to moderate) correlations to annual, MAM, JJA precipitation and negative correlation during SON, DJF seasonal months. Wavelet analysis is also employed to study the effect of solar activity on precipitation.
