Ethnobotanical Survey of some Medicinal Plants Used as Veterinary Medicine of Banka a District of Bihar

Use of medicinal plants for curing animal diseases are widespread in Banka district of Bihar. This paper provides information of 65 medicinal plants species used by villagers of the forest areas for curing various diseases in animals. In all herbal formulation for 30 ailments are presented of these, use of 16 species, viz, Acalypha indica, Argemone Mexicana, Grewia hirsuta, Salanum tuberosum, Lagenaria Siceraria, Albizzia amara, Aloe vera, Andrographis paniculata, Blumea mollis, Oryza sativa, Butea monosperma, Cassia fistula, Dolichos biflorus, Physalis minima, Holarrhena antidysenterica and Phyllanthus maderaspatensis are being reported for the first time in the cure of animals. The data on mode of preparation, dosage, administration etc, for each ailment is provided.
