Abstract

Diesel engine was of little financial gain to its inventor Rudolf Diesel. Today, 120 years ago, on 17th February 1897 the first functional Diesel Engine was introduced. Rudolf Diesel applied for a patent for it just five years earlier on 27th February 1892.
