Abstract

Societal development of the rural community implies overall positive change in the physical quality of fife. This positive change for the better encompasses economic as well as social aspect. It means an improvement in the quality of life {QoL} through better health, education, hausing, and welfare.

In order to devélap a model for the community development pianning of rural areas in india a systematic study was undertaken in Jaynagear. Block-I under Sundarban Block in 24 Paragnas (South) district of West Bengal. The objective - of the study was to understand the socio-economic dimensions of the community in ine area and assess of the quality of life of the villages and seitiements, and finally the development of matrices of QoL based community development planning of such areas.
