In the liberalized world, there is an urgent need for quality control in the hospitals in India. The establishment of NABH under the umbrella of QCI is a bold step towards the journey of Excellence. The demand for quality in healthcare services has been accelerated by the market forces such as medical tourism, insurance and corporate sectors, for which there is a growing demand for better health care. The necessity for accreditation is felt from various quarters as the accreditation benefits all the stake holders and specifically the patients.
Results reveal that the inpatients are more or less satisfied in general services for NABH certified hospitals. Vigorous monitoring, strategy making and implementation are the remedies for the better performance of the hospitals.
