The weathered and battered ancient archaeological structures are vulnerable to climate change. Due to global warming, climate change, sea level rise, etc., construction and cementing materials of the archaeological structures are undergoing rapid, adverse chemical changes. As a consequence, construction materials are losing their durability and the adhesive power of indigenous cementing materials used in ancient structures are rapidly diminished. The current status of construction and cementing materials at various archaeological sites across the Bengal basin and the impact of climate change on them are discussed.
