Abstract

Health Science Librarians play an important role in collecting, processing, organizing,
disseminating and preserving health science information. There is tremendous growth in
the number of e-journals, e-books, e-databases in health science field and there is a growing
demand or health science literature from digital resources in health sciences libraries.
Electronic resources have become integral part of health science library collection and health
science professionals depend much on electronic resources to keep themselves up to date for
patient care and for research. Health science librarians should equip themselves with various
skills which are required to manage the health science libraries and to meet the expectations of
the health science library users. Health science librarians play an important role in creating
awareness on the various electronic resources available for literature search including open
access resources and also in training health science library users how to access the same. This
will enable them to use the digital resources to the maximum extent.
