Abstract

In the modern day innovations in library practices forms the back bone of providing modern
and time saving services to users of the libraries. Libraries are changing their surroundings
creating more welcoming, comfortable and attractive spaces which focus on giving readers
self-serviced surroundings along with lingering cozy surroundings. Library analytics should
be extensively used by the library staff to study user behavior. Modern day practices like use
of social media clubbed with Information Technology like RFID, data mining, Wi-Fi, CCTV,
Remote A access, ERMS and Multimedia propel the library services into the next millennium.
In the context of the times when modern innovations are taking place in libraries this paper
presents the ways and means by which libraries are changing the way of providing
information services and adapting innovations in their practices. It also highlights the changes
which are occurring as a result of these practices.
