Role of Information Professionals in Imparting Information Literacy Skills for Effective Library Use: A Study

Abstract

Information Literacy is the key component in the development of the students and an independent learner. In this ICT era, the information literates know how to learn and how to use information in such a way that others can learn from them . People must understand and use right information for their problem solving and decision-making activities. For the effective use of library resources, it is the duty of the information professionals to impart the information literacy skills to the students and faculties, so that they will locate, use and evaluate the resources eff ectively and efficiently . This paper highlights the importance of imparting IL Skills among the students of Kendriya Vidyalaya, Payyanur, Kerala. A study has been conducted among the students for this purpose and objectives and survey findings were drawn.
