Abstract

Traditionally , when people are recruited, a working relationship is developed between the organization and the employee. This relationship is of ten called as job title and explains the role of the employee in the organization. A Job title describes the responsibilities of the position, the level of the job, or both. Job title helps the authority to figure out who does what in an organization. Suitable job title enhances the performance and behavior of the people in the organization. Job title communicates the value of a brand to the employees and the clients to whom they serve. Job titles help the employees to earn status and progress in their careers. This paper discusses the job title „ Librarian‟ of higher educational institutions. In the present scenario the work carried by the academic that is college librarian is more diversifed than to the generic meaning of his/her job title. The paper is developed through circulating a questionnaire amongst the librarians and gathering information regarding their satisfaction level about the job title and need for changing the job title. Both primary and secondary data is used to build the paper.
