Abstract

Networking and resource sharing are supplementary to each other. Networking is done for
only resource sharing. For fulfilling the user’s demands, networking is required for the library.
Almost all the Indian library networks play a major role in sharing the resources. This paper
discussed about the Indian Library Networks like INFLIBNET, NICNET, INDONET,
CALIBNET, DELNET, PUNET, MALIBNET, ERNET, SIRNET, VIDYANET, etc. It also
covers almost all the point related to resource sharing. One of the most important goals of
resource sharing is to maximize the availability of materials and services at the minimum
expenses. Library resources comprise manpower material, function, method and services.
Resource sharing via network implies automation, data communication and effective
cooperation.
