Abstract

In recent years, library users have shifted f rom searching in library catalogs and scholarly databases to searching in library discovery systems. This shift has introduced a f undamental change in the information-seeking process. In this connection, this paper addresses the broad topic of the methods and technologies available to libraries to make their resources discoverable and accessible by the communities that they serve. It Will examine from the online catalogs to current resource discovery environment. It further discusses some of the possibilities regarding how these technologies, methodologies, and products might be able to adapt to changes in the evolving information landscape in information and communication and to take advantage of new technologies, metadata models, or linking environments to better accomplish the needs of libraries to provide access to resources
