Abstract

The most striking feature of this 681 page compilation is its deceptive title. Topics varied in character from chemical evolution to nutrition of bacteria, fungi, protozoa, insects, birds and marine organisms have been packed into the pages of this single volume. However the contributions on these topics are by authors who are specialists in their own fields.
