Abstract
In this Symposium, interesting presentations on the causes of famine, degrees of starvation, effects of famine on body -composition and body function, effect of starvation on family and society and how it leads to infections and epidemics are given and the reader is then carried over to the relief measures that could be done for individuals, family and under everyday conditions. The next series of papers give actual field experiences of relief work in Bihar, Nigeria, Eastern Nigeria and in Palestene. In the last series of presentations, the kinds and quality of foods to be given to the different age groups and the kinds of organization' and personnel needed to do the relief work in the field is described.Downloads
