Abstract

Indian Council of Medical Research, an eminent nutrition scientist has been elected unanimously as the President of the International Union of Nutritional Sciences (lUNS) for the term, 1975-1978. This is the first time a nutrition expert outside the western world has won this honour. Dr. Gopalan was the former Director of the National Institute of Nutrition and the First Vice- President of the lUNS. In his multifarious capacities he has steared the science of nutrition both in India and abroad.
