The Influence of Protein Deprivation and ISO Caloric Glucose Substitution on Intestinal Disaccharidase Activities
Jump To References Section
Abstract
Intestinal disaccharidase activities became of particular interest after reports on the association of malabsorption and deficiencies of certain enzymes. Somewhat later investigations of patients with protein-calorie malnutrition (or kwashiorkor) showed that in 60 to 65 per cent of these patients the diarrhoea was secondary to lactase deficiency which was generally attributed to protein deprivation.Downloads
