Abstract

Pre-school children are the most vulnerable groups constituting 36 per cent of the total population of India 2001 censes. During these years, growth is generally slower than in he first year of life, but continues gradually. They need to be given special attention as pre-school child is an easy victim of malnutrition. Secondly, the nutrition of this segment of population is of paramount importance since, the foundation for life time health, strength and intellectual capacity is laid during this period. Thirdly, malnutrition of the pre-school children can be a major hurdle to socio-economic development of the nation in the future years.
