Abstract

School going children, our future citizens form an important segment of the Indian population. They contribute to the vital human potential and impart strength to the national economy and development. Better the nutritional status of the children, higher will be the nation's rise. Therefore, their nutritional status is of great significance. Nutritional status of the children is also known to affect their physical and mental performance. Nutrition in childhood is the basis for survival and good health in adulthood. Inadequate nutrition in childhood may lead to malnutrition, growth retardation, reduced work capacity and poor mental and social development.
