Abstract
Diabetes mellitus is relatively a common disorder in India. It has been defined as a genetically and clinically heterogenous group of disorders. It is mainly caused by degeneration or inactivation of the beta cells of the islets of langerhans. There is serious derrangement of carbohydrate, fat and protein metabolism in this disorder. The purpose of treatment in all diabetics is relief of symptoms and attainment and maintenance of a satisfactory body weight. Best is dietary control.Downloads
