Abstract

Cockerels are the discards of commercial poultry production and are disposed off at very nominal price. Rearing of cockerels with considerably low inputs, meagre managemental case and practices offer sustenance to marginal and small farmers compared to broilers which demand cost intensive feeding regimen. The rapidly growing/developing broilers require diets which are rich in energy and proteins, thus comparing with the human diets, thereby necessitating the usage of diets based on agroindustrial by products like deoiled rice bran supplemented with non-edible fats like fallow.
