Abstract

India is committed to attaining the goal of Health for all by the year 2000 A.D. through the universal provision of comprehensive primary health care services, of which provision of adequate amounts of safe food is an indispensable prerequisite and component. Freedom from hunger and malnutrition, essential to the enjoyment of the highest attainable standard of health, is among the fundamental rights of every human being. What is more, there can be no sound social and economic development without adequate food and nutrition, both quantitatively and qualitatively.
