The menopause usually occurs between the ages 45 and 50 years and is an indication of the waning of ovarian function. The menses may cease suddenly but as a rule, the cessation of menstruation is a gradual process and may display the same irregularities as were seen in the 'dodging period of the adolescent girls, menopause is of increasing importance to health processionals in terms of both preventive and clinical care of women in their later years. With the increase in life expectancy, the average woman now lives approximately one third of her life in the post menopausal period.Downloads
