Rural inhabitants of remote villages of forest fringe region of Purulia district, West Bengal, more particularly hill plateau area of Jhalda-I, Baghmundi and Balarampur blocks have three major sources of their livelihood. These are : earnings by adopting lac activities, farm activities and non-farm activities. Comparative study of net income derived from these sources revealed that prevalence of lac activities contributed 56% of total income over the others. The study has been made over 50 sample farmers' households who are classified according to size group in order to incorporate size group wise analysis in this discussion.Downloads
