Successful use of microbes for production of biofuels depends on the organisms’ ability to produce the fuels at a faster rate. Escherichia coli may be the best choice for the production of biofuels. It is easily available, and has the advantage of being a suitable model organism in terms of gene regulation and expression. Currently, researches are going on for production of different biofuels such as bioethanol, n-butanol, isobutanol, propanol, isopropanol, etc. Among all these, biofluels other than ethanol, are better choices because of their less corrosiveness and higher energy yield.Downloads
