A Note on the Nesting Plant of Baya Weaver Bird (Ploceus Sp.) n Odisha Mangroves
Jump To References Section
Abstract
While surveying mangrove fauna of Odisha, the authors came across baya nests at Balabhadrapur about 10 km from Kakatpur, Puri district. The nests, fifteen in number (12 complete nests and 3 incomplete ‘practice nests’), were found on Sonnaeatia apetala (Fig. 1). These were observed at a height of 8-9 m above the ground. Earlier, baya nests had been reported from Coringa mangroves, Andhra Pradesh by Srinivasulu et al. (2000).Downloads
