Jump To References Section
Abstract
The crab Spiralothelphusa hydrodroma was described from Tranquebar (now in the Tanjore district of the state of Tamil Nadu) by Herbst in 1794 as Cancer hydrodromus. Subsequently, Heller (1865) recorded it from Madras, Rathbun (1905) from Coromanndel and Malabar coasts, Alcock (1910) from different localities of West Bengal, Orissa, Uttar Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Maharashtra and Kerala, Chopra and Tiwari (1947) from Patnagarh and Bott (1970) from Tamil Nadu. While examining, collections of the Zoological Survey of India, Kolkata, the author came across a series of specimens from several localities (in addition to the above) which were unreported by the earlier workers and hence this communication.Downloads
