Jump To References Section
Abstract
Sundarban is regarded as the largest delta of the Ganges and declared as Biosphere Reserve in the year 1989. There are 19 Blocks in the Sundraban, of which 13 Blocks are in South 24 Parganas and 6 Blocks in North 24 Parganas. On 25th May, 2009 a cyclone of very short duration, termed Aila, struck this region due to which most of the paddy cultivated areas in the Sundarban are submerged under saline water of adjacent rivers. As a result agro-ecosystem was highly affected. Main crop of Sundarban in the kharif season is paddy.Downloads
