The study was undertaken to evaluate the antioxidant potential of Plumbago zeylanica L. in streptozotocin (STZ) diabetic rats. The ethanolic extract of root of P. zeylanica L. at doses of 100 mg, 200 mg/kg p.o. for 21 days resulted in significant reduction in plasma TBARS and a significant elevation in plasma reduced glutathione (GSH), ascorbic acid. It is concluded that these results suggest that the ethanolic extract of root of P. zeylanica L. possess a strong antioxidant effect in diabetic rats.Downloads
