Kharbanda) editor1@informaticsglobal.com (Journal Coordinator - Mala KG) Mon, 26 Aug 2024 00:00:00 +0530 OJS 3.3.0.11 http://blogs.law.harvard.edu/tech/rss 60 Radiomorphological Variations of the Coronoid Process, Condyle and Sigmoid Notch According to Age, Gender and Dentition https://informaticsjournals.co.in/index.php/jpfa/article/view/44848 <p><strong>Background:</strong> The mandible consists of the coronoid process, condyle and sigmoid notch, which have variable shapes and can be a contributor as an identification tool. <strong>Objective:</strong> Morphological analysis of the coronoid process, condyle and sigmoid notch and their correlation with age, gender and dentition using digital panoramic radiographs in the Indian population. <strong>Materials and Methods:</strong> The study was done on 200 digital panoramic radiographs of both gender males and females between the age group of 20-70 years. The shape of the coronoid process, condyle and sigmoid notch were traced by using GIMP 2.8 software and the data obtained were subjected to statistical analysis by using the chi-square test. <strong>Result:</strong> Based on age and gender, the predominant morphology of the coronoid process was found to be triangular. In females, the prevalent shape of the condyle was observed to be angled, whereas the most frequent configuration of the sigmoid notch was wide. According to dentition (teeth present or absent) most common shape of the coronoid process was the beak and the shape of the condyle was convex in completely edentulous patients and the most common shape of the sigmoid notch was wide in completely edentulous patients. <strong>Conclusion:</strong> The shapes of the coronoid process, condyle and sigmoid notch can be used as an identification tool.</p> Dr Kushdeep Kumar Gupta, Dr Vinay Mohan Copyright (c) 2024 https://informaticsjournals.co.in/index.php/jpfa/article/view/44848 Mon, 26 Aug 2024 00:00:00 +0530 Effectiveness of an Integrated Behaviour Change Model to Enhance Sense of Coherence and Oral Health Status among School Students in Chennai City – An Interventional Study https://informaticsjournals.co.in/index.php/jpfa/article/view/36518 <p><strong>Aim:</strong> To evaluate the effectiveness of an Integrated Behaviour Change model in enhancing Sense Of Coherence and oral health status among school students in Chennai city. <strong>Materials and Methods:</strong> 200 school children aged 13-15 years, were randomly allocated into the study and control group. The Integrated Behaviour Change Model was used to improve students’ Sense of Coherence and Oral Health Status in the study group. Students in the control group received conventional oral health education using lecture method, peer teaching and audio-visual method. The Sense of Coherence of students in the study group was recorded using the 13-item Scale and Simplified Oral Hygiene Index (OHI-S), Gingival Index (GI) and Plaque Index (PlI) were used to assess Oral Health Status. Oral Health Belief was also recorded. After six months, Oral Health Status and Oral Health Beliefs were assessed. Sense Of Coherence of students in the study group was assessed. <strong>Results:</strong> The per cent decrease in the OHI-S score was 51% in the study group and 36% in the control group (p=0.001). PlI scores showed 66% and 63% reduction in the study and control group, respectively. After six months, the Oral Health Belief in the study group increased by 59% and the control group showed a 51% increase (p=0.013). Sense Of Coherence score showed a 10% increase in the study group. Further, improvement in the OHI-S score was found to be associated with the Sense Of Coherence score of students in the study group. <strong>Conclusion:</strong> The intervention established in this study improved the Sense Of Coherence and Oral Health Status of school students. The improvement in Oral Health Status obtained in the study group was higher than in the control group.</p> R. Pavithra, P. D. GCTs are typically mono-ostotic, although, on rare occasions, they may manifest as high-grade polyostotic. Out of all basic bone neoplasms, the GCT accounts for 5% of cases. Despite this, the head and neck manifest as 2 to 4 per cent of all GCTs. There is a contemporary scarcity of documented case presentations of GCT diagnosed in the jaw bones. It occurs more commonly in women, with no racial predilection and often in maxillary dentition restricting to a single quadrant. These odonto-dysplastic teeth radiographically appear as Ghost teeth with hypoplastic enamel, large areas of hypo-mineralised interglobular dentin with an irregular arrangement of dentinal tubules and denticles in the enlarged pulp cavity.
