Selection of Steels According to their Charpy V Properties in Order to Avoid Brittle Fracture
Jump To References Section
Abstract
The classification of steels based upon the Charpy V transition temperature is now widely accepted and included in ISO standards. The genesis of currcnt practice for the selection of steels in welded constructions based on the Charpy V transition temperature was the systematic analysis of brittle fractures of all welded structures built during World War II and in particular of ships of the U.S. Navy.
