Maize in India
Jump To References Section
Abstract
This is a monograph on maize, covering origin and spread of cultivation ; area, production and yield; crop improvement, cultivation, chemical composition, utilization, marketing and trade. Said to be a 'monographic article' taken out of Vol. XI of the Wealth of India-Raw Materials series, it contains valuable information on certain basic aspects of Zea mays, covering genetics, hybridization techniques and procedures, heterosis, diseases and pests, chemical composition of the grains, food and feed values of various components of the plant, etc. However, the data on the area, spread etc., and the information on cultivars are rather out-dated and therefore, of limited value.Downloads
