Abstract

Hypertension is regarded as a major public health problem worldwide. The World Health Report identifies blood pressure as one of the five important risk factors for non communicable disease worldwide. Average prevalence in India is 25 per cent in urban and 10 per cent in rural populations. Changing lifestyle factors has documented efficacy in the primary prevention and control of hypertension.
