Abstract
Diabetes mellitus is emerging as one of the main threats to human health. The prevalence of this condition and its mortality rate has increased in ieaps and bounds from 5 per cent to 20 per cent. India Is reported to be the capital for the condition of diabetes mellitus. Recent researches have Implied that diabetes mellitus Is the second cause for death. Almost 90 per cent of diabetics In India are NIDDM'. Diabetes mellitus tends to lower 'good' cholesterol and raise triglyceride and 'bad' cholesterol levels, which increases the risk for heart disease. It causes risk factors such as obesity, high blood pressure, stroke and abnormal cholesterol.Downloads
