Abstract
Diabetes mellitus is a disorder of carbohydrate metabolism and the World Health Organisation (WHO) had declared India as the diabetic capital of the world. The main risk factors for the high prevalence of diabetes among Asian-Indians were high racial susceptibility to diabetes, high familial aggregation, central obesity, insulin resistance and lifestyle changes due to urbanization.Downloads
