Study of the Dietary Impact on Occurrence of Fluorosis
Jump To References Section
Abstract
Endemic fluorosis with skeletal involvement hos been recognized as a public health problem in several parts of the country, particularly in the states of Andhra Pradesh, Punjab, Rajasthan, Uttar Pradesh, Karnataka and TamilNadu. It is generally believed that the single most important factor that determines the development of fluorosis is the total amount of fluoride ingested through water and the diet. Inadequate intake of nutrients such as protein, ascorbic acid and calcium may aggravate the disease. In the present study an attempt is therefore made to assess the dietary association of fluorosis in Banasthali for the first time.Downloads
