Abstract

Good nutrition in childhood is of paramount importance in fostering the physical, mental and emotional growth of populations. Since brain grows rapidly / in utero and reaches 90 per cent of its growth by the age of four years, good nutrition is crucial during this period There are evidences that malnutrition in childhood impairs permanently physical growth, exerts detrimental influence on learning ability and behaviour and probably leads to irreversible mental and emotional damage.
