Case study - An Integrated Approach in the management of diabetes related retinopathy & neuropathy, haemorrhagic ovarian cysts with menorrhagia, osteoarthritis related knee pain, and obesity

The present case study refers to a 40-year old woman with a BMI of 31.6 kg/m2. She was a pre-diabetic with fluctuating blood sugar levels, that resulted in diabetes related retinopathy and neuropathy. She suffered from haemorrhagic ovarian cysts with heavy menstrual cycles. Other comorbidities included osteoarthritis, knee pain, acidity and constipation, coupled with low immunity and stress. After taking her case history, an 'Integrated Approach' consisting of nutritionally adequate diet, Ayurvedic herbs, dietary supplements and regular physical exercise was prescribed to her. After 36 weeks of treatment, the subject lost 22 kg of body weight and her BMI came down to the normal range (22.7 kg/m2). Simultaneously, she experienced improvement in pre-diabetic symptoms, her menorrhagia was brought under control, with reduction in knee pain and improved immunity, and total relief from acidity.Downloads
