Abstract

Milk is the first and sole food of neonate for a certain period of time and it helps to protect the new born against the hazards of its new environment. Breast feeding meets the needs of the young infant upto the age of 6 months. The uniqueness of human milk is that it is specificaly adopted to fulfil the requirements of the new born offspring. Breast milk has high lactose, low protein, and mineral content.
