A strain of granulosis virus from Pieris brassicae was isolated from the dry temperate region of Himachal Pradesh, India situated at an altitude of 2580 m above msl. The molecular characterization of this strain of PbGV was carried out with granulin gene nucleotide sequence analysis. The nucleotide sequence of 404 bp of PbGV was submitted to GenBank, NCBI with accession number FJ151541. Nucleotide and phylogenetic analysis confirm this isolate as Pieridae (insect family) infecting granulovirus with lowest genetic distance of 0.012, 0.015, 0.016 with other Pieris rapae and Pieris brassicae granulosis viruses. More number of isolates and other molecular markers, however, would be useful to understand the phylogenetic relationship of this Indian isolate of PbGV.Downloads
