The problem of wave propagation in elastic cylinders has been discussed by a number of writers [1]-[10]. However, in these investigations the initial state of the cylinder was assumed to be unstressed. In the present paper, an attempt has been made to determine the influence of initial stress on the propagation of longitudinal waves in an isotropic elastic cylinder of unlimited length.Downloads
