On Active and Passive Mass of a Fluid Sphere
Jump To References Section
Abstract
Recently Bonnor [1] has raised the question of inequality of active and passive (inertial) mass of a fluid sphere of uniform density in general relativity (GR). He takes for the active mass the Schwarzschild mass M appearing in the exterior metric and obtains the passive mass by integrating the passive density Ïp=Ï+p over the proper 3-volume of the interior solution. The two do not agree. The passive density Ïp defined by the equation of motion.Downloads
