Abstract
Professor Gupta's work is notable for its simplicity, ingenuity and elegance. This was also prominant in his lectures and seminars. He could convey very complex ideas in such a manner that they seemed very natural and simple. Many of this papers are suitable for presentation in elementary courses in Number Theory and Combinatorics. As students at Panjab University, Chandigarh we had the privilege of taking courses from him on Number Theory, Geometry and Partition Theory at various levels. His style of lecturing was such that the students felt that they were discovering the results on their own rather than being told by somebody. One hour of his lecture passed very quickly. He never seemed in a hurry to complete a theorem and taught in a leisurely manner. Even then he would cover a substantial amount in each lecture. He called each student by name and made sure that everybody participated actively. He was an extremely popular teacher. His research work is spread over more than six decades. He has nearly 200 publications to his credit on variety of topics in elementary number theory, partitions and combinatorics. It is not possible to describe ail his contributions, we mention below some of his important work.Downloads
