Abstract

Propagation of waves and discontinuities in rods has been extensively studied and reported in literature. Tlie problems of wave-propagation in elastic bars with variable area of cross section have been treated by Tsui (1968), Bert and Egle (1969) Handeiman and Rubenfeld (1972).
