Abstract

The objective of the present study was to evaluate the chronic toxicity by determining biochemical parameters after prolong exposure with indoxacarb @ 250 ppm and its amelioration by concurrent administration of rhizome powder of Hydechiumspicatum (HSRP) @ 2000ppm and 4000ppm in feed for 16 weeks in WLH cockerels. The total protein, globulins, albumins and glucose levels in blood serum were significantly (P<0.05) decreased whereas direct bilirubin, indirect bilirubin, BUN, creatinine, ALT, AST, ALP, GGT were significantly (P<0.05) increased in indoxacarb intoxicated cockerels groups indicating hepatotoxic and nephrotoxic effects. Simultaneous administration of HSRP in both 2000ppm and 4000pp min diet produced amelioration in biochemical profile of indoxacarb intoxicated cockerels. Thus, it is concluded that HSRP was effective in restoration of biochemical parameters and revealed hepatoprotective and nephroprotective effects in 16 weeks feeding trial in cockerels.
