Effect of Ginger on Serum Cholesterol Levels
Jump To References Section
Abstract
Ginger is a commonly used spice and is considered a valuable medicine because of its action as a rubefactant, diuretic and stimulant to the gastro intestinal tract. It is also reported to be antihyperglycemic. Gujral et al further demonstrated that ginger oleoresin, the active principle present in ginger lowers serum cholesterol level. Ginger oleoresin preparation is cumbersome and is not available in the market. Hence the present study has been undertaken with a view to ascertain if whole ginger could be administered to reduce cholesterol level in serum.Downloads
