Approximately 36 per cent of children born in India are of Low Birth Weight (LBW) as a result of prenatal malnutrition. The study undertaken by National Family Health Survey found that almost half of children under three years were underweight for their age (18% severely). At least one in five children was under weight in every State. Forty six per cent were stunted (23 % severely) in their height for age.Downloads
